I was going to call this recipe "Best Brownies in the Universe Bar None", but that sounded too pretentious.
Brownies of the Gods
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate*
8 Tbl/1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 Tbl espresso powder (if you substitute instant coffee pulverize the crystals before adding)
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
3/4 cup chocolate chips*
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line an 8 inch square pan with aluminum foil.
Melt unsweetened chocolate and butter together in a large bowl in the microwave. Stir until smooth.
Stir in remaining ingredients one by one.
Spread into pan and bake 20 to 25 minutes, until the center is barely set. DO NOT OVERBAKE. These brownies are meant to be gooey. In fact, they are meant to be eaten out of the pan with a spoon while watching trashy crime shows on TV. But let's not talk about that.
*I can't come to your house and force you to use a good quality chocolate such as Ghiradelli, but I'll be very disappointed in you if you don't.
And if you are using this recipe to bake the chocolate drizzled brownies I showed a pic of a few days ago:
1. Omit the walnuts and chocolate chips
2. Bake slightly longer--a toothpick should come out with crumbs, not chocolate goo, stuck to it.
3. Let the brownies set overnight (or chill thoroughly in the fridge) before peeling off the foil, slicing, and drizzling with chocolate.
I bet those brownies are yummmmyy. I would suggest not cooking in aluminum foil. Replace it with parchment paper made for baking.Martha Stewart(I'm not a big fan or anything)recently mentioned on her show she won't even let aluminum foil touch her food.I'm going to try your recipe this weekend. After all, we all need a little bit of sweet sometimes! Thanks,Emily

YUUUUUUUMMMMMY! How I wish I can already eat brownies next week! Last Friday, I went to Goose Creek and my dentist extracted my tooth. That's why for 7 days, I wasn't allowed to eat solid and sweet foods. Honestly, it's really painful. I'll keep this link so I can follow this!
